Another slow start, refuse-to-quit, hang tough loss for UCI. Michael Wilder hit five 3-pointers on his way to a season high 19 points, drawing effusive praise from the LSU commentators. Daman Starring continued his hit or miss ways by shooting an egregious 2-15 on the day, missing several open shots and also turning over the ball multiple times late in the game. All in all, another solid effort by UCI, refusing to go away, even cutting the lead to four late in the game… baby steps.

The bad news is that point guard Aaron Wright tweeted that he is out for the season today. However, he also mentioned that he made the medical redshirt deadline by one day, meaning that Wright will not lose a year of eligibility for the games that he has already played this year,  and should be available for four more years at UCI after this one. One can only hope that the yet to be undiagnosed knee injury won’t affect him in the long run.
